I received a copy of Serenade by Emily Kiebel in exchange for an honest review.
Lorelei Clark loves to sing, so she felt really lucky when she had the opportunity to attend a school of the arts so she could start her future as a soprano. Everything was great, she had close friends, doing great at school, well almost everything. On a visit to see his daughter at college, Lorelei’s father was killed. Still reeling from the shock, she receives a letter from an aunt who wishes to reconnect and invites Lorelei to stay with her and she accepts the invitation and everything she knows changes! Lorelei realizes she’s a siren, like her aunt and grandmother before her and on her first “mission” she breaks the siren code and challenges fate, then all hell breaks loose. The author paints a very realistic fantasy world and by chapter 5 I could not put the book down. I actually put the book down on my lap a few times to daydream about the possibility of a world where mermaids and sirens and magical things exist. This is one of those books where I’m hoping for a sequel.
